I recently bought an iPhone 17 Pro without trading in my old phone, but after discussing it with someone at the store, I realized my old phone is just lying around collecting dust. Since I got AppleCare, I don't really need an extra phone. Is it still possible to trade it in now and get that amount applied as credit to my new purchase, or will I just receive a gift card instead? Thanks in advance for any help!

You might need to return your 17 Pro to the store and then buy it again using a trade-in. Otherwise, they typically won’t apply it directly to your purchase. Just so you know, if you're outside the 14-day return window, your options would be to get Apple credit, gift the phone, or sell it yourself for a better price. Hope that helps!
Awesome, thank you! Yes, I bought it in-store at Apple and used my Apple credit card, so it sounds like this should work. An employee mentioned it shouldn't be an issue, but I just wanted to double-check. I really appreciate the clarification!
If you bought your iPhone from Apple, there's a 14-day period during which you can trade it in after purchase. They'll refund the trade-in value back to the original payment method. If you used carrier financing, things might be different depending on the carrier though.
