I was just watching YouTube when my phone suddenly turned off, even though the battery was at 48%. Now it won't turn back on. Is there any chance I can fix this at home, or will I need to take it to a repair shop?

Did you try charging it? Sometimes it might just need a little boost to get going again.
It’s likely a battery issue. Even if it shows 48%, the battery might have failed. If it doesn't respond when you plug it in and hold the power button, I recommend going to a repair shop for help.
Have you tried plugging it in and turning it on? I’m worried about how we troubleshoot tech sometimes, but it can help.
It's sort of in a weird state—it doesn't respond much, but the screen is still glowing.
I have an older phone that shuts off around 50% too. Usually, plugging it in revives it. It might mean your battery's on the way out. You can replace it yourself, but be cautious—it’s not the easiest task. Try looking up "battery replacement [your phone model]" for some DIY videos.
Your phone could've overheated. Let it cool down for a bit and try turning it back on. Playing videos can get the CPU hot, especially if it's in a case or resting on a soft surface while charging.
Have you attempted a hard reset? It can help to discharge any built-up electricity in the phone. Just hold down the power button for about 10 seconds and see if that brings it back.

It was actually charging when it shut off.
