Is upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600X and Radeon 9600XT a smart move?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 and an NVIDIA GeForce 1060 3GB with a B450 Mini motherboard and a pretty old 550W power supply. I mostly game at 1080p, but I'm getting fed up with not being able to enjoy new titles. I'm considering an upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X and a Radeon 9600XT, which I estimate would cost around $560. Would this upgrade be worthwhile, or is there a better combination? Also, will I need to replace my power supply and motherboard? I'm eager to buy soon because I've heard GPU prices are set to rise. Thanks!

You can actually find a used Ryzen 5 5600(X) for under $100, and CPUs are usually pretty reliable when bought used. That's a solid upgrade path without breaking the bank!

Where do most people usually buy their used stuff?

I had a similar setup, and my upgrade path included going through a 2080 Super and then a Ryzen 5800XT before finally building a whole new rig with a 7800X3D and a 7900XTX. If you're leaning towards NVIDIA, I'd highly recommend looking at the 20 or 30 series GPUs. The 2080 Super and 5800XT worked wonders for 1080p gaming with high refresh rates, but your choice will really depend on which new games you want to play and whether you're aiming for high refresh rates or just good visuals.
