Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a troubling issue at work that's been causing a lot of stress. It started on April 29th when one of our machines stopped allowing the user to log in, showing the error "The user name or password is incorrect." It was strange because no accounts, not even domain or local admins, could log in.
Fast forward to May 1st, and the problem has spread to six machines—both Windows 10 and 11—mostly from Lenovo, and they vary in models and generations. We've tried using sethc.exe to force a password change, but that hasn't worked either. We're at a standstill, as we have no idea what caused this update or issue. Any insights would be really helpful!

Have you tried disconnecting the machines from the network and seeing if you can log in with cached credentials? Also, do you do any automatic patching, or do you let Microsoft handle updates? Sometimes, issues arise from recent patches.
It sounds like a bigger issue if you're unable to log in even with local accounts. I recommend you try booting using a Gandalf USB to reset the local admin password. Once you're in, make sure to keep the laptop disconnected from the network. Then check the event logs for anything unusual. A thorough virus or malware scan might also help you uncover any additional problems.
