Hey everyone! I'm at a turning point in my career, and I'm looking for some guidance from those who've been through it. I've always had a passion for computers and have started to dive into coding, focusing on HTML and CSS, with plans to learn JavaScript soon. I want to dedicate at least a year to really get the hang of things, but I'm aware it might take longer. My main question is: what's the tech industry really like? I know it varies by company, but I understand that it's going to take a lot of time and effort to succeed, possibly starting with a lower salary. Right now, I'm feeling stagnant in my current job, and I know there's potential for growth in tech. I'd love to hear any experiences or advice you might have on making this transition. Thanks a bunch!

Breaking into software engineering can be tough if you don't have a degree, but networking is key. Building a portfolio with interesting projects can show your skills. I recommend starting with a course like the CS50 intro from Harvard—it's a fantastic way to get a feel for programming. Also, check out GitHub to showcase your work!

Thanks for the tips! I’ve been considering an apprenticeship if I struggle to find something, but I know it’s early in my journey. I appreciate your advice!
