Is it a good idea to use a virtual machine for Ubuntu programming while keeping Windows as my main OS?

Hey everyone! I have a Windows laptop and I'm running a virtual machine with Ubuntu. I want to know if it's okay, or even better, to do my software development in the VM while keeping Windows as my main OS. I need Windows for Microsoft Office for school and of course for gaming, haha. I'm currently a second-year Computer Engineering student, and I'm looking to use Linux for programming projects. What do you all think?

You could definitely code on Windows if you wanted, but many people find Linux tools to be much more powerful for development. It really depends on your workflow and what tools you enjoy using. If you're comfortable using Ubuntu, stick with it in the VM!

I get that! I love Linux tools too—they just have a different vibe that makes coding feel smoother.
