What’s Eating Up My SSD Storage Space?

Hey everyone, I've got a 237 GB SSD in my laptop, and I can't figure out why my storage seems to be vanishing. I only have two games installed: Overwatch, which is around 40 GB, and Minecraft, about 10 GB. On my apps list, it says I'm using 150 GB, which doesn't add up at all since I also have around 30-45 GB reserved for system storage. I'd like to install more games without having to constantly uninstall and redownload. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The storage reporting in Windows can be really misleading. It might be worth using something like WizTree to see exactly which folders are hogging space. Just a heads up, with a 250 GB SSD, you won’t have too much room for multiple games anyway, regardless of what you find.

Thanks for the tip!

First off, you should definitely try downloading WinDirStat to analyze your drive. It’ll give you a detailed look at what’s taking up all the space. You might be surprised at what you find!

Much appreciated! I’ll check that out.

You mentioned a 237 GB SSD? Just a quick note: that's actually a result of how drive space is reported, so you're likely looking at a 256 GB SSD. It's pretty common for the actual usable space to be lower, which can be confusing.

Wow, you're absolutely right! I didn’t realize the reporting difference. Thanks for clarifying!
