I've noticed that my CPU, a 9800X3D, runs at an idle temperature of 50–60°C while I have several background apps open, including Discord, qBittorrent, Steam, NVIDIA services, Epic Games, and Signal. I've seen others mention having idle temps around 30–40°C, which seems much lower than mine. Given that I have a Lancool 216 case and an Arctic LF3 Pro cooler, I thought my temps would be reasonable. Should I be concerned about this? What role do background processes play in CPU temperatures?

Yeah, it depends on what those background programs are doing. If you’re torrenting or doing updates, your CPU is probably actually working more than it appears, which will raise the temp.
I think your idle temp is a bit high. I use an Asus A31 with a Corsair Nautilus 360 RS and I usually see 35-40°C. It might be worth checking if your AIO cooler is installed correctly.
It really depends on your ambient temperature. I have a similar setup with a 9800X3D and my ambient is 20°C. Right now, my idle CPU temp is about 41°C. If your environment is warmer, that could definitely affect your CPU temp!
41°C? That's awesome! I’m in Malaysia, and it's usually between 25–32°C here, so I guess that’s why my temp is higher!
Have you checked if your cooling pump is running at 100%? For AIO coolers, that's the ideal setting to keep things cool.

But even when idle, could those processes still affect the temperature?
