Hey everyone! I built my gaming PC in 2021 and currently have a Ryzen 3600. A few months ago, I upgraded my GPU from a 1070 Ti to an RX 9070. I primarily play various games, especially Battlefield 6, at 1080p on a 165Hz monitor, and I'm not looking to upgrade my monitor anytime soon. Unfortunately, even after optimizing my game settings, I feel like my CPU is bottlenecking my performance. I'm not interested in upgrading to AM5 right now, so what's the best CPU option available for me? My budget is around €200, and here are some options I found in a local shop:
- 5800X - €170
- 5700X - €165
- 5700 - €135
- 5700G - €170
- 5800XT - €203
I can do some research on benchmarks, but I'm feeling a bit lost on the price-to-performance ratios after so long without an upgrade. Is the 5800X still a good pick until AM6 comes out?

The 5800X is solid, but if you find a deal on the 5800X3D, you should consider it. It's a bit pricier but offers fantastic performance for the investment, though availability can be a hassle.
The 5800X is definitely your best bet out of the options you've listed. It performs incredibly well for gaming, and it should give you a notable boost in FPS compared to the 3600.
I wouldn’t recommend the 5700 or 5700G because of their reduced cache. Stick with the 5800X; it offers great performance and is well worth the upgrade.
Totally agree. The 5800X really balances price and performance effectively.
If you decide on the 5800X, just make sure your cooler can handle it! I've got an Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo, which has worked fine for me. It really depends on how much you want to push the CPU though.
I've seen some of the posts suggesting getting the 5800X3D, but honestly, it’s so overpriced and hard to find. Stick with the 5800X for now until prices come down.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. Prices for the 5800X3D are crazy right now; it’s often above €400, which is just not worth it. Better to go for the 5800X if you can find it cheap!
