I'm having trouble with the HEVC extension for Windows Movies and TV. The up-to-date version doesn't work with some HEVC 265 codec videos, but I have an older version that works fine. I prefer using Movies and TV, even though I have a different player that handles these files better. Is there a way to prevent Windows from automatically updating this extension? I've tried blocking the extensions folder with the firewall, but it didn't work. I've heard I could turn off all Windows Store auto-updates, but I'd like to keep that feature for other apps.

Honestly, it's surprising you’re using a Store app like Movies and TV when there are so many free alternatives out there that don’t have these issues. You might want to explore those.
Unfortunately, if you keep the general auto-updates for the Windows Store enabled, there's no way to stop just the HEVC extension from updating since it's part of the Store's offerings. You might want to consider disabling auto-updates altogether if this extension continues to be a hassle.

I actually have free players that work well, but I enjoy using Movies and TV for certain things.
