I'm using an iPhone 12 and every time I try to scan my digital train ticket (which has a QR code or barcode) at a station gate, the Apple Pay screen unexpectedly activates and blocks the ticket. This issue occurs with multiple rail apps in Europe and Asia. Is there a way to prevent Apple Pay from showing up so I can scan my ticket smoothly?

It’s a common issue I've noticed as well. Many app developers don’t fully implement features that can suppress NFC activity when you’re trying to present a QR code or barcode for tickets. Some apps may even allow you to add your ticket to your Apple Wallet, which usually avoids that pesky Apple Pay interference. Unfortunately, there’s no guaranteed fix from your side—it might be best to reach out directly to the app developers and let them know about the problem.
If Apple Pay is using NFC, there might be a setting to temporarily disable it. However, I gotta point out that there isn’t a way for users to disable it entirely. It’s up to the transit app developers to make sure they disable NFC when displaying a QR code. It's quite a basic expectation for transit apps, so definitely bring this up with the app developers; hopefully, they’ll fix it soon!
