Which Graphics Card Should I Upgrade to: RX 9070 XT, RTX 4080 Super, or RTX 5070?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my NVIDIA 3080 now that I've got a new power supply. I recently switched from an EVGA Supernova G5 650w to an ASUS ROG 1000w Gold Aura edition, so I'm ready to make the leap. I have a dual monitor setup with a main 1080p 180hz screen and a secondary 768p monitor for tabs. Here are my specs:

- **CPU:** Ryzen 5 9600X
- **RAM:** 16GB DDR5 6000MTs
- **MOBO:** Gigabyte B850M Gaming X wifi

Living in a third world country, prices are a bit inflated but my budget is around $1000 USD. Here are the prices I found:
- MSI Shadow X3 & ASUS TUF RTX 5070 - $678 USD
- Radeon RX 9070XT Sapphire Nitro Plus - $797 USD
- MSI Ventus X3 RTX 4080 Super - $863 USD
- Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 5070 TI - $916 USD

I'm open to switching to AMD since I don't use NVIDIA's technologies much. What do you all think? Which card would give me the best bang for my buck? Thanks for any suggestions!

Honestly, skip the 5070; it’s just a sidegrade. The 4080 Super is a bit better than the 9070 XT, but if it’s only $70 more and used, that’s a risk. The 9070 has solid gaming performance and is the better long-term investment.

I’d say the RX 9070 XT is a solid choice right now. It offers great gaming performance and has 16 GB of VRAM, which should keep it relevant for years. Plus, it's a good value compared to the others. The 4080 Super does perform a bit better, but it’s also a used card, which comes with some risk.

Good point! If the 4080 Super is sold by a reputable store with a warranty, might it be worth the extra $70? I'm just worried about the potential longevity with the 5070.

I think the RX 9070 XT is a better value, especially given the price gap and how much it offers in performance.

All these cards are a bit overkill for 1080p, to be honest. If you really want to upgrade, the 5070 would be a safe bet since it’s well-cooled and silent under load. But if you want the best for the price, the 9070 XT is certainly more than capable for gaming.

Thanks for the thoughts! I really only care about performance and value; if I can save some money and stick with my current monitor for now, that’s a bonus.

I just switched from a 3080 to a 9070 XT, and I’ve been really happy with it. Honestly, if you can, you should consider upgrading your monitor too since you may find the performance to be too high for just 1080p.

I’ve been thinking about that! I went from a really low-res monitor to 1080p, and it was a big difference. Maybe a 1440p upgrade could be next once I get my new GPU.
