My brother is interning at a service-based company, and they're offering him two training paths: the MERN stack and DevOps. I want to know which of these paths might be safer in the long run. Any insights or reasons for choosing one over the other would be appreciated!

For me, it's all about the challenge. Interns often wind up troubleshooting existing code rather than building from scratch, so DevOps could be more engaging and lead to interesting experiences compared to MERN.

I think DevOps is a better choice here. While your brother can definitely learn MERN on his own later, the structured learning environment for DevOps is really beneficial. Plus, it covers essential skills that are needed across many tech roles.

DevOps feels more like managing an entire kitchen, while MERN is akin to just mastering grilling techniques. It's a broader skill set in DevOps that could lead to more opportunities down the line.

I'd lean towards DevOps as well. The tech landscape is shifting rapidly, and more companies seem to be prioritizing skills over specific stacks. Plus, it's not just a fad that will fade away, unlike some frameworks.

Exactly! The industry tends to go through cycles, but foundational skills like those learned in DevOps are often more resilient.

Don't stress too much about the decision! Internships are usually short, around 10-15 weeks. If he makes a choice he later questions, he can pivot without too much hassle. Plus, the fact they have structured tracks is a positive sign for his growth.
