Will Upgrading to a 5070 Cause CPU Bottlenecking with My 5600?

I'm considering upgrading my graphics card from a 2060 to a 5070, but I'm worried about bottlenecking since I have a 5600 CPU and a B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard. Will I experience performance issues with the 5070, or should I just go for the 5060 Ti instead? Would any bottlenecking even be noticeable?

You should be fine with the 5070! It would be worth it to upgrade your GPU now and maybe think about a CPU upgrade down the line. Just a thought—if you can find a 9070 XT for a similar price, that might be a solid option too!

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestion. I'll look into that.

At 1080p, your 5600 CPU is likely to bottleneck the performance of the 5070, but at higher resolutions, things will balance out better. If you go for the 5060 Ti, just keep in mind that it uses only x8 PCIe lanes, which can slightly hold back performance too. And some B450 boards had issues with x8 cards—make sure to set your PCIe version correctly in BIOS if you go that route.

It really depends on the games you play and your resolution. Most titles will likely be limited by your CPU when paired with the 5070, but at 1440p, you might see more frames overall compared to the 5060 Ti. Just remember, there's always going to be a bottleneck in any setup; it’s all about improving your overall performance. Also, make sure to research if the B450 has any limitations regarding PCIe Gen4—it could affect performance, especially in some newer cards.
