I'm really feeling stuck with my PC and could use some advice. About eight months ago, I started experiencing odd issues that required a weekly restart to avoid stuttering, freezing, and 100% CPU usage. A couple of months in, my PC abruptly shut down, and a technician told me my graphics card was dead. I got a replacement power supply, since a friend suggested that might have been the issue.
Here are my original specs:
- CPU: Intel i3-12100F
- Motherboard: MSI Pro H610M-E DDR4
- GPU: RX 570 4GB
- RAM: DDR4
- SMPS: Ant Esports VS600L
I then upgraded to a GTX 1660 6GB, but after a few weeks, I faced a shutdown again and learned that this GPU was also dead. I suspected multiple parts might be at fault, so I replaced everything except the power supply. The new setup includes:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- Motherboard: Gigabyte A520M K V2
- GPU: RX 6600 XT 8GB
- RAM: DDR4 8GB x2
- SMPS: Ant Esports VS600L (same model)
Only two weeks in, and my PC shut down again—now I'm worried another GPU is gone. I'm wondering if a faulty power supply could be responsible for multiple GPU failures, if the Ant Esports VS600L is considered reliable, and what tests I should conduct to avoid more replacements. Any insights would be appreciated!

It sounds like your power supply is the likely culprit. A faulty PSU can definitely kill GPUs. If you can, try to swap it out for another unit to see if that helps. As for that Ant Esports model, it’s not really regarded as the most reliable option out there.
I’d definitely lean toward the power supply being the issue. It’s the part that fails most often in my experience, both at home and in my work. Investing in a high-quality PSU can save you a lot of headaches, plus consider getting an anti-surge plug for extra protection.
Is one surge protector enough?
My friend uses the same power supply, and it's working fine for him. But he’s got an inverter, while I don't use a UPS.
