Is an ATX 3.0 Power Supply Always Superior to ATX 2.x?

My friend is trying to choose between two power supplies for his ZOTAC 5060ti. One is the Cooler Master MWE 750 Gold v3, which ranks B+ on a well-known tier list, and the other is the Cooler Master XG Plus Platinum 850w, rated A+. They both cost about the same where he lives. He's concerned about transient power spikes that ATX 3.0 is supposed to handle better. I think those spikes aren't likely to occur unless he's using a much more powerful card, like the 5090. Since the 5060ti isn't that demanding, I don't believe he needs to worry.

Either option is going to work well for your friend with a 5060ti. If he’s really worried about it, he should just go with whichever he prefers. Neither power supply is a bad choice, so it really comes down to preference here.

Glad to hear both options are solid! It's good to know there's room for choice since the PSU is such an important piece in a build.
