Upgrading a Prebuilt PC with a Ryzen 7 7700X: Need Motherboard and RAM Advice

I'm planning to surprise my girlfriend for our upcoming one-year anniversary by upgrading her prebuilt PC. The main component is the Ryzen 7 7700X, but I've run into some challenges finding a good motherboard and RAM that are compatible, especially with RAM prices being so high lately. I have two RAM kits on hand: a 32 GB G.Skill kit running at 6000 MHz and a 64 GB Corsair kit at 6400 MHz. I'd prefer to use the G.Skill kit because it's EXPO, but I'm struggling to find motherboards that support both the CPU and this RAM type without breaking the bank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Both of your RAM kits will work with any motherboard supporting the Ryzen 7 7700X. I’d suggest looking for a reasonably priced B650 motherboard. Just make sure it supports EXPO if you want to use the G.Skill RAM, as that could make it easier for you.

I can relate! I had some motherboard and RAM compatibility issues myself, and it was quite the headache. I was considering a B650 too because my initial board didn't play nice with the RAM I wanted. If a motherboard works with the EXPO version of the G.Skill RAM, it should also support XMP versions without a hitch.
