I'm on the hunt for a mobile device management (MDM) solution that can handle both iOS and Android devices. We'll mainly be using company-owned devices at first, but we might expand to include bring-your-own-device (BYOD) down the line. Initially, we're starting with iOS devices, but we also want something that supports Android.
I'm looking for an MDM that allows users to unlock their devices with a simple PIN, without requiring them to log in, and I want to avoid iCloud enrollment. We need the ability to control which apps are installed on the devices and to remotely install them as needed. Also, it would be fantastic to push files—our team will primarily be using these devices to view GIS maps that we update regularly.
I've come across Manage Engine and JAMF so far, but I'm open to other suggestions or insights about these options! Thanks in advance!

If you're mainly focusing on iOS, JAMF is top-notch. It's great for Apple devices and can also handle Android if necessary. It’s optimized for corporate use, though. If you're in a Microsoft-heavy environment, Intune is also a decent option, especially for BYOD situations.
I’ve been using Hexnode for about a year and it covers all your needs pretty well. You can unlock phones with a simple code, restrict app installations, and push apps directly to devices. Plus, you can manage file deployments effectively, which sounds like a perfect fit for your GIS needs.
I've had a great experience with Miradore managing over 100 devices, both Android and Apple. Keep in mind, Apple devices require certificate renewal every six months, but overall it has a lot of useful controls. Just note that it doesn’t support Kiosk mode for web apps, if that’s something you’ll need.
Have you considered using Intune? It’s a solid choice if you're already using Microsoft 365. Just a heads-up though, if you don't have the right licenses, it can get pricey and might be more than you need for just a few functionalities.
Yeah, I looked into Intune, but we don't have the necessary licenses, and it seems a bit overkill for our needs.

Sounds good! I’ll check it out, especially since the pricing seems reasonable.
