Is it Worth Upgrading from an i5-8600K to an i7-9700K or i9-9900K?

I'm considering upgrading my old computer that's running a Z390 motherboard with an i5-8600K clocked at 4.8GHz and 4 G.SKILL RAM sticks at 3000MHz CL18. I've just upgraded my GPU from a 1070TI to a 5070FE since I usually game at 1440p and want to play Stalker 2 properly. Now, I'm looking at getting a better CPU from the 9th generation, specifically an i7 or i9, if I can find one in the $50-$100 range. Also, my current CPU cooler, a Cooler Master MA410P, is pretty noisy and not efficient, so I'm considering upgrading to a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 Evo. Do you think the upgrade would provide significant improvements, and is it worth the trouble? Thanks!

Upgrading could really be a great move if you're planning to stick with that system for a while. The i7-9700K is often seen as a sweet spot for performance without going overboard. I made the jump from an 8700K to a 9900K, and honestly, it required a lot of cooling and made my PC pretty loud. I'd say if you're looking for a boost, the 9700K might suit your needs well. Just make sure to check performance benchmarks to reassure yourself!

That does sound reasonable! Did you notice any significant performance improvement after upgrading?

Also, just a heads up about benchmarks—UserBenchmark has faced some criticism regarding accuracy. It's always good to cross-check with reliable sources when you're deciding.

What's your budget looking like? Honestly, jumping from an i5-8600K to a 9700K might not yield a huge difference depending on your usage. If your main goal is gaming, it might not be worth the upgrade right now, especially since the performance gains aren’t as pronounced in most situations.

It's more about not wanting to overhaul the whole system right now rather than budgeting. I just want to get a bit more out of what I have.
