I'm currently using an i5 9600k alongside a 2080 GPU and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU primarily to boost my FPS while playing CS2. Originally, I planned to upgrade to an i9 9900k, but that doesn't seem to provide good value for my needs. I want to retain my existing RAM and GPU, and I also plan to repurpose some of my old parts for a separate NAS build. What are my best options at this point?

If you're sticking with DDR4, then your best upgrade options are locking into an AM4 setup with Ryzen 5000 series or going with LGA1700 for Intel's 12th-14th gen chips. Keep in mind that while AM4 CPUs are becoming rare and pricey on the used market, a 14600K could be a solid choice. Just remember to check for BIOS updates and microcode fixes; you don’t want to run into compatibility issues!
