I'm looking to build a new PC primarily for my son, who wants to create Minecraft videos on YouTube using OBS Studio. I built my current PC in 2011 and added an SSD in 2024, but it struggles with running OBS, which leads to crashes. We got him a microphone last Christmas, so I'm asking for money to build a new setup for his birthday and Christmas this year. I haven't added a hard drive yet because I'm planning to use a SATA SSD from my old PC for now, but I want to know if my chosen components are suitable for video editing without breaking the bank. Ideally, I'd like to keep the total build under $700. I have already purchased the case and I'm waiting for another paycheck to gather the rest of the parts. I think this build is a great start! OBS can be a bit resource-heavy, especially for editing, so just ensure that the RAM is sufficient, ideally 16GB would be good. If you can squeeze in an upgrade to a better SSD later, that would also help with loading times for videos.
