I'm in the market for a PC upgrade. Initially, I was set on getting an Intel i7 paired with an RTX 5070 and 32 GB of RAM, but the total cost comes to around $1900, which is pretty steep. Now I'm considering an i5 with an RTX 5060 Ti and 16 GB of RAM instead, which would only be about half the price. I'm really curious if the performance boost from the 5070 justifies the extra cost. What do you all think?

I'd go for a PC with a 0070 card and stick with 16 GB of RAM. The prices for 32 GB are really high right now, and usually, the GPU and CPU are your main priorities.
My answer is no. For $1000, getting the latest Intel i5 with an RTX 5060 Ti is a much better deal than splurging $1900 on the i7 with a 5070. You could save that extra money for future upgrades or even get a nice SSD for gaming.
What do you currently have for a setup?
In most cases, the RTX 5070 is just about 20% pricier than the 5060 Ti, but you’re looking at around a 30% performance increase. So, in my opinion, the 5070 is worth it if you can afford the upgrade.
What do you plan to use your PC for? I think the Core Ultra 7 can outperform the 14th gen i7, especially since it’s discounted now. For gaming, an i5 or Ryzen 5 should handle things fine. For GPU, the 5070 would do better with heavy rendering tasks compared to the 5060 Ti, but 16 GB RAM might be tight for local AI tasks.
Just gaming, but I don’t want to miss out on playing newer games in a couple of years.
Honestly, you might want to think about going all AMD. It could save you some cash and potentially give you better performance.
But isn't the AMD equivalent to the 5070 the 9070? They seem to be around the same price, right?

I've got an old 2060 with an i5-9400, but the new AAA games are tough to run even on low settings.
