What’s the best GPU option under $600 for 1080p gaming?

Hey everyone! I recently sold my RTX 4060 Ti because I wanted to upgrade, but I didn't realize how tough the GPU market is right now. Now I'm trying to decide between waiting for the prices to drop on the 9070 XT, or going with an RTX 5070 or 5060 Ti 16GB, or maybe something else entirely. I mainly game at 1080p on a 280Hz monitor and really want to maximize my frame rates by lowering graphics settings while playing at native resolution. This probably means I might not need an Nvidia card. However, I've had a bad experience with an AMD 6900 XT before due to microstuttering, and switching back to Nvidia made my games feel smoother. So, I'm a bit biased towards Nvidia now. The 9070 and 9070 XT look better on paper, but they're quite pricey, and at 1080p, the performance difference between the 9070 and RTX 5070 seems minimal. My budget is $600 max, and I'd even consider stretching it for a good 9070 XT model (not a budget brand like ASRock). Here are my specs: Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 850W PSU, 2TB M.2 storage, B550 motherboard, and a good cooler, but I'm currently without a GPU. Any thoughts on what I should do? Thanks for any advice!

If you can stretch your budget a bit, the 9070 XT is actually a great card. For around $600, it outperforms the RTX 5070 by a noticeable margin—about 15-25% better in many games. Just make sure you're getting a reputable model from brands like ASUS or Gigabyte, as those tend to have better quality control than budget brands.

I totally agree! As long as you can find a good 9070 XT deal, it's worth it. If you find it a little overpriced or the model isn't right, the RTX 5070 can be a solid option too.

Don’t get too caught up in brand names; it’s really about the specs and performance. Do your research on the models available to ensure you're making a smart choice. You sold your GPU without checking the market? That’s a bit risky! Haha.

Just a heads up, I bought the 5060 Ti 16GB a month ago, and it handles 1440p gaming really well, especially with frame generation for higher FPS. Sure, I've had some minor stuttering issues with older games, but overall I'm happy with it.

Dude, have you checked if there's a Microcenter near you? They currently have the 9070 XT for about $599! It's definitely a good deal if you can grab one there.

Ah man, I wish we had Microcenters here. They definitely need to open more locations!

Honestly, the GPU market's much better now than in previous years. You can find cards at MSRP or even lower. If you see a 9070 XT for around $650, that’s likely your best bet. If staying under $600 is a must, then yes, go for the RTX 5070; I’ve seen it priced under $500 in some places.

That’s exactly what I've noticed too! Prices have been more reasonable lately. Just keep an eye on local deals.
