Is My New 850W PSU Enough for My 4080 Super and 5900X?

I'm looking to upgrade my power supply, as my old one has seen 15 years of use. I've chosen a Corsair 850x to power my setup, which includes a Ryzen 5900X and an RTX 4080 Super on a B550F motherboard. I've checked various calculators that say I should be fine, but I want to get a second opinion before I spend hours installing it. I'm not planning to upgrade my GPU or CPU anytime soon; I just want to ensure I don't damage anything due to my old PSU failing. Is 850W sufficient for my setup?

850W is definitely fine for your setup. Just keep in mind if you overclock your CPU, you'll need to consider its actual power draw. For example, my 5950X goes up to 225W under full load. But if you're running stock settings, you should have no issues. Plus, if your PSU gets overloaded, it won't die—it’ll just turn off, so you're safe there.

No overclocking for me; I'm sticking with stock performance!

You're good to go with your 850W PSU! Just make sure to buy a Corsair 2x8 to 12v-2x6 cable instead of using that 'squid' adapter. It should be type 4, as the RMx non-Shift version uses that pinout.
