I recently got my hands on a 5080 Founders Edition at MSRP and I'm excited to play some 4K games on my LG C5. However, I also found a 5090 at Best Buy for $2.8k and I'm wondering if the $1.8k difference is really worth it for 4K gaming. I usually aim for a solid 120fps and mainly enjoy single-player games. If I can snag a 5090 Founders Edition at MSRP, I'd definitely go for it! By the way, I have a 9800X3D CPU as well.

You'll do just fine with the 5080! I've been gaming at 4K with a 5070 Ti and it's been great. I think you'll be more than satisfied with the performance at that resolution.
I have a 9800X3D and a 5080 FE, and I've been really happy with it so far! In Hades II, I was getting around 240 fps at 4K. It's worth it to tweak your settings, but so far it's delivering great performance for me!
Honestly, the 5080 is more than powerful enough for 99% of gamers. Don't stress about the upgrade unless you're really craving that top-tier performance.
The 5080 will work just fine! The 5090 is a monster, but it's also super pricey and consumes a lot of power. If you're just gaming without ray tracing, the 5080 is a solid choice.
The 5090 is about 52% faster at 4K. So it comes down to whether that performance boost is worth $1.8k for you. I'd suggest trying out the 5080 first and seeing if it meets your needs.
Good point! I shouldn't let FOMO pressure me. With DLSS, I’m sure the 5080 will handle 4K gaming just fine while I hope for a chance at the 5090 FE at MSRP.
I started with the 5080 and was really pleased, but I eventually got a 5090 because I love ray tracing in games like Cyberpunk and Resident Evil. If you plan on using ray tracing, just be mindful of the 16GB VRAM limit with the 5080. Otherwise, it's great!
You can easily hit 120 fps at 4K with the 5080! Just use DLSS and you can even dial down your settings a bit. Not everything needs max settings to look great.

Exactly! My 3070 Ti kept up at 4K for a long time even. I just upgraded to a prebuilt with a 5080 and can't wait to see how it handles everything!
