Troubleshooting Unrecognized SAS Drives on a Dell T630 Server

I just got a free Dell T630 equipped with dual E5-2640 processors and 64GB of RAM, and I'm trying to set it up. However, I'm having trouble with the BIOS not recognizing the SAS drives, though it does detect the DVD drive. I went ahead and reset the BIOS to default settings and even reset the system diagnostics, which seems to have removed the software. Does anyone know how I can reinstall the diagnostic software? Also, I could really use some tips on troubleshooting the drive recognition issue. I believe RAID is enabled, but I'm not sure how to reset it or verify that everything's set up correctly.

First off, you'll want to verify if there's a RAID controller in your setup. If the RAID isn’t recognized, you can access the RAID settings through the lifecycle controller. Also, check the sector size of the drives. Make sure the drive caddy lights up when you insert the drives; that indicates they’re powered. If you're having trouble with the lifecycle manager giving errors, it could mean the RAID configuration needs attention.

Sounds like you might be dealing with a missing RAID controller. Check if the server has an H730 RAID controller installed. It’s common for servers to have either SATA drives or NLSAS drives, so make sure the necessary hardware is there. Try accessing the RAID configuration menu during startup to see if the drives appear there.
