I'm exploring the possibilities of using AI to create website mockups based on prompts. As someone who learned web development before the prevalence of AI tools, I find myself struggling with the design aspect of a hobby project I'm working on using HTML and CSS. I'm not using any UI libraries, and whenever I make adjustments to the layout or visuals, they usually seem to look worse instead of better. While I'm comfortable with the coding side of things, I'm not confident in creating solid design components. Are there any AI tools out there that can help generate website designs or mockups from simple prompts?

GitHub Copilot Pro does a great job if you have a grasp of design principles. It's useful to have in mind which front-end UI library you're leaning towards, like Bootstrap or Material Design, as it helps structure your design. But I can see how Figma might be more straightforward for what you’re looking for.
We're currently using Figma AI, and it's been really helpful for our projects. You might want to give it a shot!
Honestly, I think your approach could benefit from using UI libraries. They offer tons of customization options and guidance on theming, which can save you a lot of hassle. Trying to create everything from scratch is a bit more complicated than it looks, especially without design experience.
What if I want to create a unique design first and then code it, instead of settling for generic templates?
Why not just hire a designer? That would take a lot of pressure off you regarding design challenges.
I really prefer to figure out tools that could help me improve my design skills before considering hiring someone. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Isn't GitHub Copilot just a coding assistant? I really need a design-focused tool since I’m not great at design. It feels like everyone just has their own opinions on what I should do instead of suggesting tools.
