Experiencing Low FPS in CS2 After Upgrading CPU

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my CPU from a 9800x3d to a 9950x3d to get more power for gaming. My setup now includes an MSI x870e motherboard, 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 6400 CL30, and a 4070 Ti graphic card. I've made sure to update everything – the latest BIOS and got performance tweaks sorted, but I'm only averaging around 400 FPS in Counter-Strike 2. While that's not terrible, it feels lower than it should be. Based on my experience building and testing PCs, I'd expect 2-300 more FPS with this new setup. After doing a clean OS install, I noticed my performance is lagging compared to when I was using my old CPU. Has anyone else faced similar issues or have any tips? Thanks!

It’s possible your 4070 Ti is heavily bottlenecking the CPU, even at low resolutions. If you can, consider upgrading your GPU or switching on the turbo game mode in BIOS. That could give you a nice bump in performance!

How's the FPS comparison against your old 9800x3d? It should be around the same if everything is set up right. If it’s significantly lower, you might have an underlying issue. The 9950x3d should be comparable in gaming but excels in other multithreaded tasks if that’s what you're into.

In terms of productivity, it's performing well. But when it comes to gaming, I'm seeing slower results than before.

Honestly, 400 FPS seems pretty standard for a 4070 Ti. Your CPU isn't bottlenecking it, but the GPU can only push so many frames. It might just be the expected performance level you're seeing with this setup.

I've had setups with a 3060 and a 7800x3d that managed to hit higher frames, so there's definitely room for improvement!

Have you checked the max FPS settings in your game configs? The default cap is 400 FPS, so it's worth making sure it’s not capped.

Yes, I checked that. It’s not capped at 400 FPS, and my config remains unchanged from before.
