Help with Building a PC After Buying a 5090

Hey everyone! I'm new to building PCs, and I messed up a bit. I just bought a 5090 graphics card without realizing that I'd probably need a new motherboard and other components. Right now, I have a Radeon RX 7600 paired with a Ryzen 5 5500. Can anyone advise me on the right parts I need to complete my build? I'd really appreciate any guidance!

If you're looking at high-performance CPUs, try the 9800X3D or 9950X3D for the best performance with your 5090, provided your budget can handle it. Just make sure to use the right core scheduling software with those processors.

So, does that mean any motherboard will work with those CPUs?

It seems like you're facing a CPU bottleneck with that setup, but you might not actually need to replace your motherboard. The difference between PCIe 3.0 and 5.0 for the 5090 is pretty minimal—like only 5%. Just upgrade the CPU if you can instead!

If your budget allows, swapping in a 5700X3D or 5800X3D could work. But if you're going for the top tier, consider getting the 7800X3D or 9800X3D along with a good motherboard and some new RAM.

I read conflicting info, though. Some places say the motherboard won’t support the 5090.
