I'm curious about whether GPU support is something I absolutely need to have or if it's more of a precaution. I can get something to support it if necessary, but I want to know how critical it actually is. Is it about the weight of the GPU, or is it just a good idea to have, especially for larger models?

It's more of a safeguard than an absolute necessity. If your graphics card isn’t sagging noticeably, you can probably get away without a support for quite a while. But it's always better to be cautious, especially if you plan to keep your setup for years.
Yeah, I’d agree—having that support is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
It really depends on the size and weight of your graphics card. If you have a longer or heavier GPU, like a three-fan model, some form of support is generally suggested since it can help prevent sagging, which might damage other components over time. For lighter cards, it’s probably not necessary, and many people get by just fine without it.
Exactly! I have a pretty hefty 5090, and while sag isn’t immediate, I prefer having that extra safety support, just in case.
Yeah, I once had a card that didn't sag at all; it felt very rigid, so I didn't bother with a support.
Most modern GPUs, especially those released in the last few years, are quite large and heavy. Companies sometimes include support brackets directly with the card, but if you don’t have one, it’s a good idea to invest in a support system. It doesn’t have to be fancy—many people even use makeshift solutions like a block or a piece of wood.
Haha, I like the idea of Lego support! But yeah, it does help to use something to prop it up.
My last two GPUs came with kind of useless supports, so I just made my own reinforced option. Works much better!

True! I feel like I’m just worried about future proofing. Better safe than sorry!
