My GPU Fans Go Wild and Monitor Goes Dark – What’s Going On?

I've been experiencing some weird issues with my PC lately. It started about a week ago after I upgraded my GPU to a 5070. My GPU fans suddenly spin loud, and the entire monitor display turns off. When it happens, I have to power off my PC using the switch, and when I turn it back on, the display returns and the GPU fans stop. Interestingly, my PC fans remain loud even then. I've had this setup for three years, and aside from the GPU upgrade, my other parts include a 5 5600 CPU and a Corsair B500W PSU. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

If you upgraded the GPU but kept the same PSU, ensure it has enough wattage to support the new hardware. If the PSU is underpowered, it can lead to instability and those symptoms you're describing.

It sounds like your GPU might be overheating or under a lot of stress. When it spins up like that, it could be the fans trying to cool it down. Make sure your GPU is properly seated in the slot and check if it's getting enough power from the PSU. You might also want to monitor your temperatures using a software tool to see if they’re spiking when this happens.

Also, check your power settings in the system. Sometimes, aggressive power settings can cause odd behavior with the GPU. If it's only happening when you're running certain applications, it might be tied to how those programs interact with the GPU. And ensure that all drivers are up to date.
