I'm really frustrated with the nonsense I've encountered while trying to do research, especially with this model '4o.' I had a frustrating interaction where I caught it providing inaccurate information, and it was only after I pushed for corrections that it acknowledged its errors. It feels like I'm dealing with a child who can't figure things out. So, I'm wondering which model is currently known for providing the most accurate online research. Anyone got recommendations?

I think Perplexity is really good for web searching when it comes down to it!
Deep Research has been solid for me overall.
Just mixed up DeepSeek with Deep Research, my bad!
Are you talking about R1? I didn’t find it useful; it reads like GPT 3.5. My query relates to OpenAI’s models specifically.
Every model has its specific use cases. The right choice really depends on what you're researching. From your tone, it sounds like you might be under pressure, like a college student trying to finish a term paper last minute.
Haha, you hit the nail on the head with that one!
What’s the best all-rounder model for trustworthy research, though?
Gemini 2.5 Pro and Grok have been doing pretty well lately. I think Gemini’s deep research feature might be the best out there, although I haven’t compared it against GPT‘s for research yet.
Grok has been impressive for me too! I’m actually considering switching to it full-time.
From what I've seen, either O3 or DeepResearch is what you should check out. Models that give you source links are usually the most reliable for accurate results.
No way O3 is the answer. It's smart but has way more hallucinations than version 3.5.
O4-Mini is also a solid option, worth considering.
Totally agree with this answer!
