I'm on the hunt for a new desktop tower that I can convert to a Linux machine specifically for video editing. I'm hoping to keep the budget at $600 or lower. Can anyone recommend a good option that won't break the bank?

Honestly, I think it’s still possible to do some video editing on a $600 PC, but it does depend on the software and what you plan to edit. If you’re considering DaVinci Resolve, you'll want something with a decent CPU and enough RAM. Look for a machine with at least 8GB of RAM and a multi-core processor. You could potentially find refurbished models or older systems that are still quite capable.

Yeah, I used to run an OptiPlex 790 for a while, and while it's an old model, it handles basic editing pretty well for the price. Just needs to have enough power to run whatever you're using!
