I'm using the MATE desktop environment and I'm wondering if there's a way to add a dedicated 'Show Desktop' button similar to what you find in Windows 10. I know that the Cinnamon desktop has this feature, but I need a solution for MATE. Or am I just going to have to get used to the little square minimize button?

I don't have a solid answer for you, but I'm genuinely curious! What do you find so useful about having a quick access to the desktop? I haven't really used that feature in ages. Also, have you tried using the super+D or ctrl+super+D shortcuts? They can minimize everything instantly.
You can usually find a 'Show Desktop' button next to the menu in the panel. It's right there alongside other buttons like Firefox and the terminal. Just make sure you're checking the right panel setup since MATE should offer this out of the box. But if you’re looking for something specific like in Cinnamon, you might need to dig a little deeper into the settings.
You should take a look at the applets available for MATE. Most installations I've worked with have the 'Show Desktop' button included. It might be a matter of enabling it in your panel. But if you're looking for it right by the clock, that might require a different approach.
