Will AppleCare Cover My Water-Damaged iPhone?

I recently got a new iPhone 17 in December, but sadly, it got submerged in water and is now unusable and can't be repaired. Since I'm still on AppleCare (the standard version, not AppleCare+), I'm wondering if I can get a replacement phone from Apple. If so, what might the replacement cost be? Just for context, I'm a T-Mobile user. Thanks in advance for any help!

Unfortunately, standard AppleCare doesn't cover accidental damage like water exposure. It's primarily for manufacturing defects. To get coverage for damages, you would need AppleCare+ instead.

How much does AppleCare+ cost? Also, is it possible to get a month of it, get my replacement, and then cancel?
