Why isn’t my Wi-Fi network showing up on my laptop?

I recently got a new router, and ever since I set it up two weeks ago, my laptop can't find my Wi-Fi network. It's strange because all my other devices can connect without any issues. I reached out to my internet provider for help, but they're just planning to test a different router in a few days without really addressing my current problem. My laptop is a Dell Latitude E5440. What could be causing this issue?

Just to rule it out, have you pressed any hotkeys by accident that might turn off Wi-Fi or put the laptop into airplane mode? That might be why you're not seeing your network—even if you can see others. It's a quick fix if that’s the case!

It's possible that your router disabled the 2.4 GHz band, which is still used by many devices. If your laptop can only see 5 GHz networks, that might explain why it can't find yours. Check your router settings and see if you can enable that band.

Have you checked if other Wi-Fi networks appear in your list? Sometimes, the settings on newer routers disable older Wi-Fi protocols that your older laptop might need! Try logging into your router settings and turn on the legacy modes to see if that helps.
