Can ChatGPT Remember Previous Conversations?

Hey everyone! I'm new to using ChatGPT, and I had a really long conversation about my health history. It was super helpful, but then my internet connection dropped, and I lost the entire chat! Is there a way for ChatGPT to remember previous sessions, or maybe an app that can do this? I'd love to avoid having to repeat that long convo again.

If you download the app and subscribe, you should be able to save your chats. But keep in mind, you'll still have to start fresh with each new conversation unless you refer back to what's saved in memory.

Actually, that's not quite accurate. You start each chat from scratch except for the stuff saved to memory.

There are limitations to how long an AI can keep track of a conversation. Each model has a context window it works within, which means it can lose track of earlier parts of a conversation if it’s too lengthy. Modern AIs do use various methods to improve this, but outside that context window, it can’t access previous information at all.

Grok 3 has memory features, though the results can be hit or miss. Also, if you try Gemini's experimental model, it remembers your search history, which might help you out!

I have the Plus plan, and with it, I can refer back to things we talked about in previous chats. You might also find your specific chat history and continue from where you left off.

Does anyone know if its memory covers all chats or just the current one?
