Should I Upgrade My Ryzen 5 3600 or Just Replace It?

I accidentally overheated my Ryzen 5 3600 and now it's causing some issues. I've checked my motherboard and it's in good shape, so I'm thinking about replacing the CPU. I'm running an RTX 2080 Super and I don't plan on upgrading that anytime soon. I'm considering the Ryzen 5 5600X since it seems like a solid choice, but I keep coming across the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which looks promising too. My main concern is whether my GPU might bottleneck the performance of the upgraded CPU, especially considering the 5800X3D is nearly double the price. I'd like to know if it's worth upgrading given my situation, or if I should just do a straight replacement, maybe with the 3600X instead. Thanks!

I recently made the jump from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5800X. It’s been great for me, especially since I doubled my RAM to 32GB. I mainly play Minecraft, so my GPU isn't really pushed to its limits (my GPU is a Radeon 5700, comparable to yours). If you want to avoid replacing your motherboard, this upgrade can offer a few more years of performance and it cost me a couple of hundred bucks.

But is most of that boost in performance due to the extra RAM? I'm already at 32GB too, so I'd be curious if there’s much more to gain in your case!
