Looking for DDR4 Build Suggestions to Maximize Performance

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i7 8700K paired with 32GB DDR4 RAM and an RX 9060XT with 16GB. I'm on the hunt for a new CPU and motherboard that can handle heavy music production software, as well as gaming. Key aspects I'm focusing on are high core counts and excellent single-core performance, while still being compatible with DDR4 since I don't want to sell a kidney for RAM. My current setup is CPU bottlenecked, and I want something that will give my GPU a run for its money. I'm particularly curious about whether the i7 14700K is worth the extra cost compared to the Ryzen 7 5X00X/X3D series, or if I should consider switching to AM4. Any suggestions for CPU and motherboard combos that fit my needs?

I'd definitely recommend going for the i7-14700K! It outperforms both the 5950X and 5800X3D significantly, especially in single-core tasks which could be really beneficial for your music production software. It's a solid step up from what you have now.

But is the performance boost worth the price difference? I thought the 5800X3D was pretty competitive in those areas.

I get your point, but remember that the 5800X3D often leads in those single-core heavy workloads, so it might be worth considering.
