Why Does My PC Randomly Restart During Certain Games?

I've been having a strange issue where my PC restarts on its own during specific moments in certain games. This started happening after I upgraded my RAM and SSD, but I'm not sure if those are the culprits. I noticed it particularly with Baldur's Gate 3, where the game crashes during a few specific cinematics, no matter what settings I try. I've also experienced some crashes while playing Peak, but it seems less consistent. Interestingly, I can play Monster Hunter Wilds on the same system without any problems at all. I've checked temps and power supply, and they seem fine. Any ideas on what could be causing these random restarts?

Do you have an Intel motherboard with B chipset? I had similar issues because my Intel graphics card and NVMe SSD were fighting for system resources. If that's the case, you might be hitting some bandwidth limits. Just a thought!

I’m using a TUF 450 motherboard with a Razer CPU and an NVMe PCI4 SSD. I checked, and my RAM is compatible, but I'll keep this in mind!

Sounds like you might be dealing with a Kernel Power 41 error, which usually means your system didn't shut down properly. Since this started after you upgraded your RAM and SSD, here are a few things you can check:

1. Your power supply (PSU) might be spiking. Sometimes the graphics card can demand too much power during those cinematic moments, tripping the PSU’s safety features. Try limiting your GPU's power in MSI Afterburner to see if it helps.

2. Check RAM stability—your new RAM might not be compatible with old settings in the BIOS. Disable any overclocking options and run the RAM at standard speeds to see if it changes anything.

3. Also, check on the SSD settings. Windows might be trying to put it to sleep, so make sure power management settings are adjusted to keep it awake during gameplay.

4. Update your graphics drivers and experiment with different graphics settings to see if there's a difference when switching between DirectX 11 and Vulkan.

5. Lastly, audio drivers can sometimes cause conflicts. Consider disabling any unnecessary audio devices in your Device Manager.

Thanks for the detailed suggestions! I’ll give those a try and report back with what I find.

Have you tried stress testing your system? If you can run Furmark or 3DMark without crashes, it might pinpoint the issue. Check your benchmarks, then compare results online to see what others are experiencing. Sometimes stress tests can reveal hidden issues too.

I did test with Furmark and it didn't crash. Here are my results: [https://www.gpumagick.com/scores/2148629](https://www.gpumagick.com/scores/2148629) and for 3DMark [https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/150356704](https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/150356704). Let me know what you think!
