I'm trying to unlock an iPad that I haven't used for years, and it has an MDM profile from my school. Is there any way to remove it so I can use the device again?

Remember, the issue isn't with the iPad itself, it's with the management on the server. You won't be able to bypass it without going through the school's official channels. If anyone claims they can unlock it for cash, they're probably using unreliable methods that won't work long-term.
If you're a former student or staff, the best bet is to reach out to the school or the district's IT team. If you kept the iPad longer than you should have or didn’t return it, it's possible the school might not help you out. In that case, you might just have to consider recycling it.
Unfortunately, if the iPad is still under the school's MDM, you can't remove it on your own. The only way to get it unlocked is to contact the school's IT department and ask them to release it. Just a heads up, anyone offering 'MDM removal' for money is likely scamming you.
