I'm in the market for a basic tablet that I can use primarily for watching movies while traveling. I don't need features like email or web browsing since I can handle that on my phone. My main concern is finding a tablet that will last for several years without running into issues like I had with my Lenovo Yoga 10, which stopped receiving support shortly after I bought it. Any suggestions?

If your main use is just to watch movies and you don’t need regular updates, just get an inexpensive second-hand iPad that you can still update. Do a factory reset and get it updated right away; that should serve you for years. I have a 13-year-old machine that’s never been updated and it works fine for me since it’s not connected to the internet.
For consuming content, iPads are just top-notch! I have a 13" model that’s light and super user-friendly. Apple is pretty committed to supporting their devices, so I wouldn’t worry about it becoming obsolete anytime soon. Mine is several years old and still works wonderfully, although I’ve been using other devices for games lately.
While iPads are fantastic, I recently got a Fire Max 11 from Amazon, and it has been perfect for streaming movies. I snagged it on sale with an additional discount for trading in an older device, making it way cheaper than an iPad. Plus, I sideloaded Google so I can access their entire app store.
I’ve been using an iPad that I bought for my dad back in 2020, and it’s still holding up really well. It was around $350, and I've had it for six years now. The battery life could be better, but you can replace it if you need to. I usually keep it plugged in while using it. I keep thinking about updating, but honestly, I can’t find a solid reason to switch it out yet.
