Why Can’t I Give a Ride Share App Location Permission?

I'm trying to set up a ride share app that requires location access, but I'm facing some issues. My phone only offers options like "allow while using the app" or "ask every time", but neither seems to work. When I open the app, it briefly shows my location, which indicates it's accessing it for a moment, but then I get an error message saying, "Unable to get current location. Please allow the app permission to your location." I've tried deleting the app, clearing data, and even updating my phone, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks!

Are you trying this inside a building? Sometimes the app has trouble getting a signal indoors. Have you tested it outside too?

Yeah, it happens outside as well. I even tried turning off WiFi to see if that helped, but no luck.

If nothing works, consider reaching out to the app support team; they’re usually pretty good at troubleshooting specific issues.

You might want to try wiping the entire cache partition. Also, check under Settings > Apps > [your app]—there should be settings there that could let you allow location access more broadly. If developer options are on, you might get more choices there.

I think developer options are on, but how would I enable that 'always on' permission? It's not showing up for me.

Check your phone's settings for the app permissions. You might be able to change the location setting to 'always allow'. That should resolve the issue, but if that option isn’t there, it may be something else going on.

I thought the same, but that's not showing up for me. I only see 'while using the app', 'ask every time', and 'don't allow'. What could be making it limited like that?

This happened to me too once! It's usually a glitch or something with the app version. Have you updated it?
