Help! Microsoft Edge Keeps Opening Unwanted Pop-Ups

I'm really frustrated with Microsoft Edge on my new Windows 11 computer. Every few times I refresh a page or open a new tab, annoying pop-up ads pop up. These ads seem unrelated to any website I'm on, and they appear when I interact with the browser itself. I've checked the settings to block pop-ups and adjusted the search/privacy options, but everything is already set correctly. I'd love to keep using Edge since I'm not keen on Google and Firefox isn't great anymore. Can anyone help me stop these pop-ups?

Sounds like you might have something more annoying going on. Maybe try resetting Edge settings to default? Just make sure to back up any important information first because it could remove some of your saved data.

Make sure to check the pop-up blocker setting in Edge as well. Sometimes, it defaults to allowing certain pop-ups, and you’ll need to manually block them. Just head to Edge's settings and select 'block pop-ups' if it isn’t already selected.

You might need to look into extensions as well. Sometimes, they can cause unexpected issues like pop-ups. Check if you’ve got any extensions installed that you don’t recognize and remove them.

If those ads seem random, there's a chance some unwanted software got installed. Have you tried running MalwareBytes? It can catch things that your regular protection might miss. It helped me when I faced a similar issue.

It sounds like you might have inadvertently enabled notifications from certain websites. You can check this by going to edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/notifications and removing any sites that are allowed to send notifications. This could help reduce the pop-ups you're experiencing.
