Hey everyone! I've got a work laptop that connects to my dual monitors via a USB-C hub, which also lets me plug in my keyboard and mouse. Now, I'm thinking about getting a mini PC for my desk, but most of them only have HDMI inputs and no USB-C output. If I use a converter to change the USB-C output from my hub to HDMI for the mini PC, will I still be able to use the keyboard and mouse? Or does HDMI just carry video signal without USB functionality? I want to avoid any unnecessary purchases since I'd prefer to keep everything set up in the hub and just switch the output between my laptop and the mini PC. Appreciate any help!

Instead of swapping cables, you might want to consider getting a KVM switch. This allows you to plug your keyboard, mouse, and HDMI into one device, and it can switch between your mini PC and the hub for your laptop without the hassle of unplugging. It makes things easier since you'll have everything ready to go without fiddling with cables every time you switch devices.
Wait, so with a KVM switch, I connect the HDMI from the monitors and the keyboard/mouse to it, and then it connects to both the mini PC and the USB-C hub? That sounds cool! I've only seen built-in KVM switches on monitors, so I'm not too familiar with stand-alone ones.
