Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my GPU to a 5070, and I'm starting to think my CPU might need an upgrade as well. Currently, I have an i7-9700f, which I've learned has been discontinued. I've generally considered it to be a decent CPU, but I've noticed some games are pushing my CPU usage high—especially CS2, where it spikes to 90-100% upon loading the game. Most of my games aren't causing issues, but I've heard that some titles, like Arc Raiders, can be really hard on CPUs. Is this just my system adjusting to the new GPU, or is it time to look for a new CPU? If I do need an upgrade, what CPU would pair well with my 5070? I'd appreciate any recommendations since I'm not very familiar with PC parts.

It sounds like your GPU is way outpacing your CPU, which is why you're seeing that bottleneck. You might need to upgrade your motherboard too, depending on what you currently have. Definitely worth checking into that!
Congrats on your new 5070! It's definitely a good time to upgrade your CPU. Check out Newegg or any computer parts retailer for some CPU and motherboard bundles. A Ryzen 9000 series would be a great match, but given that you have DDR4 RAM, the 5800X3D with an AM4 motherboard could be a solid choice.
Thanks for the advice! I have 64GB of RAM according to Task Manager. I bought this prebuilt, and I've swapped some parts, so it's a bit of a weird build. Should I still consider the 9000 series?

Thanks for the insight! I’ll look into my motherboard options.
