Help! My iPad Can’t Back Up Due to Space Issues Related to a Game

I recently installed a game called Arknights Endfield on my iPad, and it takes up about 20GB of storage. Now, my iPad won't back up because it says that the next backup will add another 19GB to the storage needed. In the past, when I've encountered similar problems, I've been able to just toggle off the app in the iCloud backup settings to prevent it from being included in the backup. However, this time, Endfield doesn't even show up in the list of apps on the iCloud backup screen, despite checking for all apps. Everything else is listed, so I'm confused about what's going on. The iPad seems to recognize the app and its data size, but I can't disable the backups for it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You're right! I had a similar issue with another game. After I ran it for the first time, it downloaded a ton of data that inflated the backup size. Since Endfield doesn't appear in your backup settings, you might want to try offloading the app or deleting it, backing up your iPad first, and then reinstalling the game without the extra data. It's a hassle, but sometimes it can help with these storage issues.

It sounds like the game is causing the backup size to spike. Just so you know, iCloud backups don't include apps themselves, but any data they generate does. Even if the game shows as only 1GB in the App Store, once installed, it can download tons of extra data in-game that gets counted in your backup. You might want to check if those additional files are what's bloating your backup size. Unfortunately, it seems this particular game doesn't let you disable its backup option like your previous games did.
