My HP PC Won’t Boot – Need Help Troubleshooting!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind with my HP Envy TE02-1050. My computer won't boot at all—no fan spin, no lights, not even a beep. This started happening about a week ago. Initially, it took a few presses of the power button to get it going, but eventually, it got worse, requiring 10+ presses and unplugging it multiple times. I think it's not the power button itself because I've tried shorting the pins without any success. HP support quoted me **$780** for repairs since my warranty just expired, and honestly, that feels excessive. I'm not sure where to go from here, and any advice would be appreciated! If the power supply is the issue, I've heard HP uses proprietary parts—what are my options? Thanks!

First off, make sure the power cord is firmly connected both to your computer and the wall outlet. Avoid using a surge protector or extension cord while troubleshooting, just plug it directly into a wall outlet to eliminate any middleman failures. If that doesn’t work and you still see no response, you may want to test the power supply itself. There are decent testers on Amazon that can help you check if the power supply is dead or just malfunctioning. Here’s a link to one you might find useful: https://www.amazon.com/Comidox-Computer-Supply-Tester-Automatic/dp/B07J9LRC6T. Good luck!

Thanks! I’ll get a tester, but since it’s HP-specific, could it be that they have unique wiring? Would a picture help? Appreciate the help!

No worries! Most of the time, HP power supplies are actually standard ATX ones, so if you need to replace it, you can get any ATX power supply with similar wattage and amperage. Just make sure to double-check the specs to ensure compatibility. Hope that helps!
