What are the best Z790 motherboards for overclocking a 14900K?

I'm planning to build a system using the Intel i9-14900K, focusing on overclocking memory to improve performance. However, I've noticed that finding good options for current Intel motherboards is challenging since the platform isn't new anymore. I'm eager to gather recommendations for reliable Z790 motherboards that would support my build. I live in the central South U.S. and already have some M die/A die RAM sticks for overclocking. Although I'm looking at an Aoex board and considering the Z890 platform, I'm unsure if that's the best choice for my goals, particularly achieving high 0.1% and 1% lows. Any general advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads up, the Z890 platform isn't compatible with LGA 1700, so your 14900K won't work with those boards. Consider the Z690 Unify-X—it’s a solid option!

Yeah, but the max overclock on that board with the QVL is around 6800, which is pushing it. I'm specifically looking for Z790 boards with better overclocking capabilities. I thought about Z890 because I could pair it with a 265KF and a decent motherboard at a good price.

Are you looking to stick with Intel for the challenge of memory overclocking, or is your main focus just on getting the best gaming performance?

I'm aiming for both! Intel competes well in terms of 0.1% and 1% lows. Plus, I've already got an AMD setup so I want to try Intel too.

If you're interested in a great Z790 option, I highly recommend the Aorus Elite AX from Gigabyte. It offers fantastic features and performance for overclocking!

What RAM are you using on that board? I'd love to know how well it performs!
