What should I consider when building my first PC?

I'm starting to build my first PC and currently I've bought the NZXT H6 Flow case. My budget is around $1500, plus or minus a few hundred, and I'm looking to make the best build I can, along with the best monitors within that price range. I prefer to go with an Intel CPU and NVIDIA GPU, but I'm open to suggestions if something else offers better value. Any tips or specific parts I should know about that would have helped you during your first build? I'd appreciate any advice as I'm aiming to get this right on my first attempt!

Make sure to clarify if that $1500 budget includes the monitor or not. It matters when planning your build!

No, I'm actually planning to set aside about $200 extra for a monitor.
